DAY 2: The Small Grammar Discovery That Changed My Confidence in English

 
After understanding nouns, I started observing everything around me differently. I would look at objects and try to judge whether they were nouns or not. Slowly, English grammar stopped feeling boring and started becoming interesting for me.

One day, I looked at a fan and started thinking about why we call it a “fan.”

Then I realized something important — we humans give names to the things around us. A fan is simply an object with three blades that runs on electricity and throws air, and we have given it a name so we can identify it easily.

For many people, this may sound like a very small realization, but for me, it felt like a discovery.

That understanding completely changed the way I looked at English vocabulary and communication skills. I realized that even if I did not know the exact English word for a Hindi word, I could still explain that thing using simple words and descriptions.

That single thought gave me confidence while learning English.

Earlier, one of the biggest problems I faced while speaking or writing English was getting stuck whenever I could not translate a particular Hindi word into English. My mind would suddenly go blank, and I would stop forming the sentence completely.

At that moment, I understood something very important:
making grammatical mistakes is still better than becoming completely blank during communication.

Incorrect grammar can still be understood sometimes, but when you cannot express your thoughts at all because you do not know one word, communication becomes much harder.

After this realization, I slowly started describing things in simpler ways whenever I did not know the exact vocabulary. Instead of stopping myself from speaking, I learned to continue expressing my thoughts with whatever English I knew.

This small grammar lesson may seem ordinary today, but at that time, it became one of the biggest confidence boosters in my English learning journey.

That was the moment I truly started understanding that communication is more important than perfection.

And honestly, this mindset helped me improve my spoken English faster than memorizing difficult vocabulary ever could.

I started identifying nouns in Hindi and searching for their meanings as nouns only. It really helped me feel confident and avoid confusion while selecting the appropriate meaning from the dictionary. Here are some examples:

Mirror

✔ शीशा दीवार पर टंगा है।

शीशा → noun है क्योंकि यह उस चीज़ का नाम है जिसमें हम अपना चेहरा देखते हैं।
दीवार → noun है क्योंकि यह घर के खड़े हिस्से का name है।

✔ Mirror wall पर टंगा है।

Thread

✔ धागा बहुत कमजोर है।

धागा → noun है क्योंकि यह उस पतली चीज़ का नाम है जिससे कपड़े सिले जाते हैं।

✔ Thread बहुत कमजोर है।

Needle

✔ सुई मेज पर रखी है।

सुई → noun है क्योंकि यह उस नुकीली चीज़ का नाम है जिससे सिलाई की जाती है।
मेज → noun है क्योंकि यह उस चीज़ का नाम है जिस पर सामान रखा जाता है।

✔ Needle table पर रखी है।

Shadow

✔ परछाई जमीन पर दिखाई दे रही है।

परछाई → noun है क्योंकि यह उस अंधेरे आकार का नाम है जो रोशनी रुकने पर बनता है।
जमीन → noun है क्योंकि यह धरती की सतह का नाम है।

✔ Shadow ground पर दिखाई दे रही है।

Smoke

✔ धुआं हवा में फैल रहा है।

धुआं → noun है क्योंकि यह जलने से निकलने वाला गैस जैसा पदार्थ है।
हवा → noun है क्योंकि यह हमारे चारों तरफ मौजूद वायु का नाम है।

✔ Smoke air में फैल रहा है।

Lock

✔ ताला दरवाजे पर लगा है।

ताला → noun है क्योंकि यह उस चीज़ का नाम है जिससे दरवाजा बंद किया जाता है।
दरवाजा → noun है क्योंकि यह कमरे में आने-जाने के रास्ते का नाम है।

✔ Lock gate पर लगा है।

Blanket

✔ कंबल बहुत गर्म है।

कंबल → noun है क्योंकि यह उस चीज़ का नाम है जिससे लोग ठंड में खुद को ढकते हैं।

✔ Blanket बहुत गर्म है

Cage

✔ पिंजरे में एक पक्षी है।

पिंजरा → noun है क्योंकि यह उस बंद ढांचे का नाम है जिसमें जानवर या पक्षी रखे जाते हैं।
पक्षी → noun है क्योंकि यह उड़ने वाले जीव का नाम है।

✔ Cage में एक bird है।

Whistle

✔ सीटी की आवाज बहुत तेज है।

सीटी → noun है क्योंकि यह उस चीज़ का नाम है जिससे तेज आवाज निकाली जाती है।
आवाज → noun है क्योंकि यह सुनाई देने वाली ध्वनि का नाम है।

✔ Whistle की volume बहुत तेज है।
